"The Role of Community Support in Achieving Food Sovereignty" - a series of mujawarat via Zoom to contribute to the development of a study on the reality of farmers in Gaza's border areas and the implementation of a field visit to farmers

Within our endeavor as Dalia Association,  to present the issue of food sovereignty as a principle and practice in Palestine, and to gather the efforts of the actors in the field to come up with a clear collective approach towards food sovereignty in Palestine, we partnered with the Heinrich Böll Foundation - Palestine and Jordan, to conduct a series of mujawarat, discussions, and dialogues on the subject of national food sovereignty. With the purpose of conducting a study and formulating a position paper on the subject, in addition to another study on the reality of farmers in the border areas of the Gaza Strip from the perspective of food sovereignty.

In August and September 2020, we implemented a series of mujawarat our online Zoom platform with farmers from various border areas, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, and representatives of agricultural and development institutions, through which the challenges facing farmers in the border areas were identified, with the aim of developing a study on the reality of farmers in Access Restricted Areas,  and the possibility of applying agricultural principles and practices that ensure food sovereignty. Later, in September 2020, we carried out a field visit to the border areas - Gaza, where meetings were organized with farmers to identify the most important challenges, possible solutions, and recommendations.
